Apple Plans to Launch Its 'Netflix for News' Service Next Month

14 February 2019

A new rumor has surfaced, stating that Apple plans to hold a product launch where it will showcase not one, but three different devices.

If reports are accurate, then Apple is asking publishers for 50% of the revenue cut for its planned News subscription service.

It's also no secret that Apple may be working on a news subscription service.

Measurable snow and sleet tonight into Tuesday
Temperatures on Wednesday reach into the low to mid-40s, so there will definitely be melting along with a lot of sloppy driving. Northern suburbs around and south of M-59 will get an even mixture of ice and snow Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Apple is bidding to retain around half of all revenues generated by the subscription service, which would allow subscribers to read unlimited content from publisher partners in return for a monthly fee, thought to be around $10 per month. While we'll advise you to take this information with a pinch of salt, you should be reminded that Apple has held a number of events in March. The Apple News subscription service is said to be the biggest highlight of the event, even as the company is running to resistance from larger publishers over the proposed financial terms.

It is worth noting that the report does suggest the company may change its plans if it can't nail down negotiations with publishers.

Apple already offers a similar service for free called Apple News, which aggregates top stories from free providers. "On services, you will see us announce new services this year", Cook said. Apple has also used March events to introduce iPad updates for the past several years now, so there could be new hardware on deck, as well.

The WSJ reports that the New York Times and The Washington Post still haven't agreed to license their content to the service because of the terms.

"We believe there will be another event in April at which point we expect iPad and product announcements to be launched".

"Sources described the event as subscription services focused, but declined to say anything about Apple's standalone video streaming service which is also rumored to debut in 2019".

Meghan Markle's half-sister challenges duchess to lie detector test
Mr Markle , speaking to the Mail On Sunday this week, dismissed claims he has not attempted to contact his daughter. Last weekend, some media published details of an intimate letter they said Meghan has sent her estranged father.

Back in late January, The Globe and Mail reported that Steve Maich, the former senior vice-president of publishing at Rogers, will lead Apple's News operation in Canada.
