Flu is here - but it's not too late to vaccinate

Kane County health officials are urging people to get flu shots after a 3-year-old girl died from flu-related complications last month at an Aurora hospital.

"Anytime there is a child death, it is immensely tragic", Kane County Health Department spokesman Tom Schlueter said.

"If you are sick with flu-like symptoms - fever, shaking, chills, shivering, cough - make sure you are not exposing other people", he said.

However, overall the province has given 278,000 doses of the vaccine, up eight per cent from past year. The 74-year-old man was vaccinated but the 64-year-old man was not, the county said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 80,000 people died nationwide last flu season from the illness, which was the highest death toll in at least four decades.

Traditionally, the H1N1 component is better at halting the spread of that strain of the virus, compared to H3N2, which has a greater propensity to genetically mutate, often in the manufacturing process. "For this reason, we highly recommend washing hands after handling objects touched by others and not sharing your smartphone with others, especially during flu season".

"This season seems to be more burdensome, more severe, affecting more people and causing more hospitalizations than the last H1N1 season", Mema said. The flu vaccine can not give persons the flu, but may cause one to develop flu-like symptoms.

Did you get your flu shot? The CDC states some individuals may have vomiting and diarrhea, though these symptoms are more common in children than adults. We still need to do more research to determine if it's actually helping prevent transmission of the flu from one person to another.

These assurances are set to be delivered to lawmakers before they vote, although not before they start their debate on Wednesday. Speaking before today's vote on the Amendment, Bloomberg's Emma Ross-Thomas revealed that Theresa May could accept it.

Trevor Phillips, Executive Chairman of hVIVO, said in a press release, "The successful achievement of statistical significance in the primary endpoints from two Phase II studies confirms that FLU-v has clinical impact in establishing immunity and disease, symptom and viral load reduction".

Cameron Kaiser said the victim had not received a flu shot and did not have any known pre-existing health disorders.

The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu shot; the shot is safe for children older than 6 months, and for pregnant women as well.

It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body that protect against the flu virus, so the earlier the shot is administered, the better.
