Josh McDaniels says 'book is closed' on interviewing for open jobs

The most recent plot twist came when it was reported Saturday that USC athletic director Lynn Swann was blocking Kingsbury from interviewing with the Cardinals and New York Jets.

The Cardinals hired Kliff Kingsbury as their next head coach on Tuesday, bringing yet another offensive-minded guru to the NFC West.

Over the past few seasons, McDaniels has been one of the most prominent candidates for head coaching jobs across the league. "That's something I think is important to have that relationship with the quarterback that's what I've always done", Kingsbury said. "He would put in the work and now it's just about him finding where he needs to be at".

Federer wins Hopman Cup with Switzerland for record third time
However, the Swiss claimed a tight 4-0 1-4 4-3 (5-4) win in the mixed doubles to claim their fourth Hopman Cup title. Teammate Matt Ebden needed to win his match to keep Australia's hopes alive but went down to Zverev 6-4 6-3.

Kingsbury's challenge now will be to build a staff. He particularly needs a strong coordinator for a defense that had its share of troubles a year ago trying to switch from a 3-4 to 4-3 scheme.

Josh McDaniels may have lost out on the Packer job, but it's not all bad news for the Super Bowl Champion coordinator.

Kingsbury will receive a four-year deal with the Cardinals owning a fifth season.

In 14 games, Rosen threw for 2,278 yards and 11 touchdowns but was far too risky with the football throwing 14 interceptions. Then you have Gase, who has spent the last three years in Miami with Ryan Tannehill, so going from a mediocre guy like Tannehill to an all-time great like Rodgers would obviously be a welcome change.

It's not quite clear when or how the coordinator ended his tenure with the Trojans. Each has had previous success running the Atlanta offense with QB Matt Ryan. "I was thankful for the opportunity to meet with Green Bay", McDaniels said. Kitchens has emerged as a favorite along with Stefanski, who according to several reports is returning to OH for a second interview. For a franchise with the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft, the first thing the Cardinals had to do was find a new head coach, which they accomplished on Tuesday afternoon.
