Brahim Diaz, who joined City's youth set-up from Malaga six years ago, is now said to be on the cusp of completing a move to Real Madrid.

Consequently, the 19-year-old is set to depart for the Spanish capital imminently, with just six months remaining on his current deal at the Eithad Stadium.

The deal with City also includes a 15 per cent sell-on fee but, interestingly, it is understood that rises to 40 per cent should Real sell the Spain Under-21 global to Manchester United.

"When I made a decision to leave City I had just three options - 1 play for Real Madrid, 2 play for Real Madrid, 3 play for Real Madrid", he said at his unveiling. If the player happens to move to their crosstown rivals however, City will gain 40% of any potential sale, which effectively constitutes a barrier to Madrid wanting to sell the player to United.

Interestingly, reports suggest that Real Madrid has promised Brahim Diaz regular first-team action, since the midfielder is making the switch after growing disillusioned with his playing time at Etihad.
