Even after his team completed their seventh successive home series triumph with a nine-wicket thumping of Pakistan on Sunday morning, South Africa's captain found himself defending the surfaces his team play on in Mzansi.

After moving on to a 13th Test half-century, Bavuma was caught behind off Shaheen Afridi in the 96th over, South Africa already past the 300 mark.

They did so for the loss of Theunis de Bruyn, caught behind for four, while Hashim Amla retired hurt for two.
