Media bashes Trump for 'doxxing' Navy Seals & troops for MAGA hats

Trump has repeatedly told service members that they're getting the biggest or only pay raise that they have received in 10 years or more. "The United States can not continue to be the policeman of the world", he repeated to reporters, describing a long-term vision of detached isolationism embodied by his controversial decision last week to pull thousands of US troops from Syria and Afghanistan.

Trump arrived back in Washington in the pre-dawn hours Thursday, capping a 29-hour and six minute trip to the conflict region conducted under the cover of night.

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume had some fun online following the implosion of yet another concerted effort by the left-leaning media to criticize President Trump over a fact-challenged claim.

"There will be a strong, deliberate and orderly withdrawal of USA forces from Syria", Trump told us troops on Thursday during his trip to Iraq. In his first-ever visit to troops in a combat zone, Trump seemed to present a foreign policy doctrine that champions a perhaps untenable middle ground. Few in Iraq or elsewhere knew the USA president was in the country until minutes before he left.

In Iraq on Wednesday, Trump seemed willing to reengage militarily in Syria, using US forces stationed on Iraqi territory.

Over the weekend, Defense Secretary James Mattis signed an order that tasked U.S. Central Command with developing a withdrawal plan, but there was no timetable associated with the order.

Trump's visit to Iraq did not clarify his administration's position in the Middle East so much as underscore his apparently competing desires to both withdraw from the world and to project military power and strength.

Then there were pundits and celebrities who took credit for "shaming" Trump into making the trip, even though the president was already flying over Europe when they tweeted NBC News' tepid take, and presidential trips are not embarked-on at a moment's notice.

Trump had faced criticism for not yet visiting US troops stationed in harm's way as he comes up on his two-year mark in office.

The visit could have unintended consequences for American policy, with officials from both sides of Iraq's political divide calling for a vote in Parliament to expel US forces from the country.

Rain, snow continue to wreak havoc on holiday travel
This year, Christmas Day had temperatures change little from the daytime high of 26 degrees to the overnight low of 22 degrees. Snow that began on Wednesday and Wednesday night will continue to pile up Thursday night in many parts of the northern Plains.

Addressing troops at an air base in western Iraq Wednesday, Trump defended his decision to pull forces from neighboring Syria, declaring of Islamic State militants: "We've knocked them out".

"They said: 'You know, we could make it smaller".

Trump, who begins his third year in office next month, had faced criticism for not visiting US troops stationed in harm's way. It continues to experience sporadic bombings, kidnappings and assassinations, which most people attribute to IS.

"We demand all USA troops to leave Iraq and Iraqi government should consider them as occupiers". The strike destroyed the tunnel entrance and killed four IS fighters, according to the US military in Baghdad.

The raise for the military that was approved in Trump's first year in office was 2.4 percent, for 2018. In 2003, the USA invaded Iraq and toppled Hussein's regime. The Pentagon is also said to be developing plans to withdraw up to half of the 14,000 American troops still serving in Afghanistan.
