Order signed for U.S. military's Syria exit - USA

26 December 2018

Saudi Arabia has agreed to spend necessary money to help rebuild Syria, US President Donald Trump said Monday, thanking Riyadh for the move.

He also rejected claims the pullout was a signal Trump was not taking Israel's security concerns into account, insisting cooperation with United States remains the same, Ravid reported.

For Moscow, the United States troops withdrawal would complete a process that saw it take over from Washington as the main global player in the Syrian conflict but will also come with added responsibility to solve it.

The press conference came after the prime minister met with his U.S. counterpart Mike Pompeo on Saturday.

Trump announced the withdrawal of the roughly 2,000 troops on December 19, declaring ISIS defeated in the Middle Eastern country.

"After all, America is in a state of attrition, and I don't believe that it will have the financial means to upkeep the same level of military presence it has overseas for much longer".

In Rare Statement, Mitch McConnell Says He's 'Distressed' Over Jim Mattis' Resignation
Another noteworthy fact: Mattis resigned, never using the word "retire" in his letter. McConnell's statement is a rare public expression of disagreement with Trump.

"We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump presidency", he posted on Wednesday.

Trump last week abruptly announced he wants the Pentagon to draw up plans to remove approximately 7,000 USA troops for Afghanistan in recent months, as well as all 2,000 US troops from Syria - a move that prompted confusion and widespread criticism in Washington and beyond. Mr Trump has committed to a pull out from the war-torn country. General Mattis did not see this as a problem. He told Trump in a letter that he was departing because "you have a right to have a Secretary of Defense whose views are better aligned with yours".

Allies around the world have been stunned by Mattis' departure, having seen the former general as a reliable supporter of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and other long-standing partnerships.

U.S. officials have justified the decision by saying Islamic State had been defeated.

Stating that the U.S.' decision will not push Israel back, he said, "The decision to withdraw 2,000 USA troops from Syria will not change our consistent policy: We will continue to act against Iran's attempts to entrench itself militarily in Syria, and to the extent necessary, we will even expand our actions there".

Just after announcing his Syria decision, Trump again confounded worldwide partners with plans to slash troop numbers in Afghanistan.

Recent draft picks both, they ranked among Cincinnati's better prospects and will infuse the Dodgers system with young talent. There is also the added layer of the club potentially pursuing Bryce Harper in free agency.

Syria has been engulfed in a seven-year civil war.

"Therefore, although he may remove troops out of Afghanistan, specially that Pakistan had recently cooled off her military and intelligence cooperation, he will not under any circumstance withdraw completely form the Arab Middle East because Iran is so squarely in the USA military sites and remains the most coveted target of Empire".

He also served as the deputy assistant secretary of state for Iraq and Iran, and worked under Republican George W. Bush as a senior official on Iraq and Afghanistan.

"And I think that what worries some Israelis is what message does this decision - the way it was taken, what stood behind it - send to the region?" 'In any case, our relationship is with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

"Our allies in SDF have done a great deal in Syria against Daesh and that is great".
