Former President George H.W. Bush's service dog, Sully has one final mission before his next assignment.

Bush will lie in state until Wednesday morning when his casket will then be transported to the National Cathedral for the first of two funeral services for the former president.

"It is with a sense of regret that we in Barbados note the passing of the 41 president of the United States, the late George Herbert Walker Bush".

"To be honest, at one point in history, ' he said, "it would not have been exceptional to have a president who obeyed and appreciated the norms of the American system and of the presidency, who was civil, who was kind to people and who rose above petty squabbles". They waited in line nonetheless.

He says his father spent time on the river guiding Bush.

Still, when an aide told Bush his friend was visiting that day, "he perked up. And anybody who does that job deserves some respect".

Sully worked for Bush over the summer after former First Lady Barbara Bush died. "Could not be more grateful, especially for their commitment to our veterans", Bush said on Twitter about the dog in June.

Sully's service didn't end with the death of her master.
