'Unhinged' Trump loses temper, claims Woodward book

05 September 2018

In this reported conversation between Trump's former lawyer John Dowd and Robert Mueller, the man leading the investigation into the alleged collusion between Trump and Russian Federation in the 2016 election, the former says he is not going to sit by and let Mueller interview Trump for his investigation.

'He's an idiot. It is pointless to try and convince him of anything. He's gone off the rails.

Inter-staff conflicts were also described in the book, such as former chief White House strategist Steve Bannon screaming at Ivanka Trump for having special access to the President. Indeed, Trump, lavished him with praise, saying that "I think you've always been fair", and that even though he was expecting it to be a "negative book", he genially quipped that he was "50 percent used to that".

"The contemptuous words about the President attributed to me in Woodward's book were never uttered by me or in my presence", Mattis said in a statement. After Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad launched a chemical attack on civilians in April 2017, Trump called Mattis and said he wanted to assassinate the dictator.

In another section, top aides told Woodward that they conspired to remove documents from Trump's desk that, if signed by the president, would have removed the United States from a trade agreement with South Korea.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said the book was "nothing more than fabricated stories, many by former disgruntled employees, told to make the president look bad".

Cristiano Ronaldo needs time to break Juventus duck - Massimiliano Allegri
That has led to a furious dispute between Mourinho and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward at the beginning of this season. Jose Mourinho has admitted that Manchester United have been handed a "difficult" Champions League group stage draw.

"We're doing this in order to prevent World War III", Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told him.

Chief of Staff John Kelly on Trump: "He's an idiot".

Among the many claims included is the shock allegation that advisers swiped documents off the Oval Office desk to stop him signing them.

In the book, Woodward writes about Mattis and Kelly's frustrations about working with the president, at times defying his demands.

Other topics covered in the book, scheduled for a September 11 release, include Trump's paranoia, and his often immature handling of global conflicts like the North Korean nuclear threat (i.e. calling Kim Jong-un a "little rocket man"). Bob Corker of Tennessee, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, tweeted that "The White House has become an adult day care center".

Weeks later, on March 5, Dowd and Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow met with Mueller and his deputy, telling the prosecutors about the president's disastrous practice session and why they thought Trump should skip the sit-down.

Colin Kaepernick Unveils New Nike ‘Just Do It’ Ad
Trump has repeatedly attacked Kaepernick and other NFL players who have demonstrated during the national anthem before games. That campaign led to boycotts and the Kaepernick ad has been similarly divisive. "Even if it means sacrificing everything".

When it comes to raking muck, few names stand out more than Bob Woodward. "I stole it off his desk", Cohn told an associate, according to Woodward. "This is another pathetic attempt to smear people close to President Trump and distract from the administration's many successes'". "I wouldn't let him see it".

Late Tuesday, Kelly and Mattis both denied the comments.

He describes Trump regularly insulting key members of his own team, branding Attorney General Jeff Sessions "mentally retarded" and a "dumb Southerner", and former chief of staff Reince Priebus "like a little rat".

Unlike previous books about the Trump White House, Mr Wood- ward's work was extensively researched with dozens of tape interviews with sources, making it harder for the President to dispute the claims.

Trump did not speak with him until the manuscript was complete, the paper said. "Mr. President, I'm afraid I just can't help you".

Perhaps some of the strongest rhetoric came from former FBI Director James Comey, who called Trump "morally unfit to be president", "untethered to truth", and "unethical".
