Ricciardo celebrates Monaco win with epic belly flop

29 May 2018

Hamilton and Ricciardo, along with Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, have claimed two victories apiece this season, although it is the Mercedes driver who now leads the world championship by 14 points from Vettel and 38 from Ricciardo. The incident happened when Charles Leclerc shunted his Sauber into the back of Brendon Hartley's Toro Rosso.

When Lewis Hamilton pitted in an attempt to undercut and pass second-place Sebastian Vettel during the Monaco Grand Prix, he came out right on the tail of Ocon but, despite struggling to get anywhere near to the back of Vettel's Ferrari during the first stint of the race, it looked suspiciously easy for the championship leader to pass Ocon - a member of Mercedes' young driver program.

It goes some way to making up for his bad luck at the same venue two years ago when a win went begging.

Hamilton, the reigning world champion and current Drivers' Championship leader, seemed content at finishing 3rd; of all the drivers who complained about the tyres, it was Hamilton who radioed his concerns the most - nearly hinting Mercedes to consider a second pit-stop. Alonso, who competed in that event instead of Monaco previous year, took to social media to say the famous oval was hosting the "REAL" race on Sunday. Vettel managed to stay on Ricciardo's tail for most the race.

"I spoke to Prince Albert and said that maybe we should make it longer", he said.

Moon told reporters that Kim "again made clear his commitment to a complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula". Some credited Trump's unorthodox brand of diplomacy with helping bring North Korea to the negotiating table.

In that moment Ricciardo believed his race was over, but a series of setting changes helped keep the power unit operational - albeit roughly 160bhp down on power. I think it was before halfway I felt a loss of power and I thought the race was done.

"We knew we wouldn't be the quickest here, just did the best we could", Hamilton said.

"There was a few doubts that came in mid-race, but we won Monaco". Stroll would soon develop a puncture as a result of contact with Ericsson, and the Ricciardo-Vettel parade would have to dodge him on lap 10. For one of Rosberg's most recent uploads however, the former champ cuts his regular number of wheels in half and traveled to Monaco to pick up a custom Energica Ego.

'From a racing driver's point of view, we were never pushing.

Having missed qualifying because his vehicle could not be repaired in time following his FP3 shunt, Verstappen then had to watch on as team mate Daniel Ricciardo captured pole. Then he was a bit stronger there and we couldn't follow. "I can not permit myself to go all in and see what the outcome is".

No Relief on Petrol Prices Despite Fall in International Oil Prices
Fuel is traded in dollars, so a weak pound makes the wholesale price more expensive for United Kingdom drivers. Five years ago during the UPA government the crude prices were 40 per cent costlier than subsequent years.

His vehicle, needing a new gearbox, could not be repaired in time and he will start from the back of the grid.

It was the Red Bull driver's first win in Monte Carlo and made up for his 2016 heartbreak when a late pit-stop error cost him certain victory. He tried without success through the rest of the race.

In the early part of the race, several drivers radioed their team pit-walls complaining about the slow pace of the race. It was yet another mistake from the Kiwi in what is becoming a run of missed opportunities for the Le Mans victor.

Fernando Alonso, who retired when his McLaren developed a technical problem, called it: "Probably the most boring race ever in F1". He even gets in a little trouble with the police for good measure.

High Prospects of US-North Korea Summit After Trump's Tweet
But others said Trump's demonstrated willingness to walk away could yet extract further concessions from Pyongyang. After some fiery North Korean rhetoric, Mr Trump announced the summit would not be held.
