Trent gets England World Cup 2018 call up

17 May 2018

As expected a number of established worldwide stars have missed out on inclusion in Gareth Southgate's final 23-man squad for this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

On-loan West Ham keeper Hart is reported to have been left furious with his club's (now former) manager David Moyes, after receiving a call from Southgate on Monday informing him of the decision.

Gary Cahill received a surprise reprieve having been excluded from March's squad - the only member of the group to have reached a half-century of caps.

Alexander-Arnold caps a dream season by earning a place in the squad after making his Liverpool debut in October 2016 and helping his team reach the Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 26.

Conte warns Chelsea flops to shape up ahead of FACup final
Asked if this was his final Premier League match as Chelsea boss, Conte replied: "Do you think so?" "No, I don't think so". The most important thing is what the club thinks, not you or the speculation about me.

The likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Jordan Henderson have unsurprisingly been named, but eyebrows will have been raised with the inclusion of Liverpool youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Playing for Crystal Palace, Ruben Loftus-Cheek managed to catch the eyes of Gareth Southgate with his performances this season.

On the stand-by list are Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton and centre-back James Tarkowski, West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore and Liverpool's Adam Lallana.

While Southgate did not make any "wildcard" picks for the finals, he has opted for experienced players such as Chelsea's Gary Cahill and Arsenal's Danny Welbeck to compliment his younger stars.

Injuries meant their Reds teammates Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez were unavailable for selection.

"I could have had easier conversations by keeping them involved". Chris Smalling, who has had a good season for Manchester United, was also overlooked because Southgate wants defenders who are comfortable in possession.

"I believe this is a squad we can be excited about", Southgate, who put five players on standby, said. "Get me to Russian Federation!"

England will play pre-tournament friendlies against Nigeria and Costa Rica before kicking off their Russian Federation 2018 bid against Tunisia on 18 June.

Chief: Officer saved lives by facing school gunman
Parents have been instructed by the school district to pick up children at a baseball field roughly a half mile from the school. Dixon Mayor Liandro Arellano Jr. said it appears a graduation practice was going on at the time of the incident.

Manchester United's Ashley Young and Manchester City's Fabian Delph - who can both play a number of positions in defence and midfield - also get the call.
