The Dixon High School resource officer who stopped an armed former student from shooting anyone inside the building is being hailed a hero for his efforts. Dixon city officials say a preliminary investigation shows the suspect shot at a resource police officer, the officer returned fire and the suspect was struck.
Danny Langloss, Dixon City Manager tweeted "So grateful for the heroic actions of the Dixon police officer who stopped the armed gunman at Dixon high school". He says the teenager turned and shot at the officer, who then returned fire. Sadly, schools and other gun-free zones are targets for insane people. "With shots ringing out through the hallways of the school, he charged towards the suspect and confronted him, head on", Howell said.
Facebook details policing for sex, terror and hate content
Facebook on Tuesday released numbers on the kinds of content-and how much of it-the company has removed in recent months. In addition, Facebook stated that from the remaining accounts, a mere three to four percent were fake .
Lee County Sheriff John Simonton also lauded the officer's actions, saying he saved an "enormous amount of lives in the school today". The young man is now in custody and is receiving medical treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Dixon High School remains on lockdown. "His courageous actions saved a lot of lives", said Langloss, whose daughter was among the seniors in the gym. He says when officers went inside the school, students and staff had barricaded the doors to the classroom in an effort to keep an intruder out.

The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave, per department policy. The resource officer was not hit. No students or staff were injured.
Dixon Mayor Liandro Arellano Jr. said it appears a graduation practice was going on at the time of the incident.
