Donald Trump contradicts lawyer amid Stormy Daniels affair

07 May 2018

Asked about Trump's statement on Air Force One that he did not know where Cohen got the money to pay Daniels, Conway referred to Trump's tweets Thursday. Trump denied in the tweets that any campaign money was used to reimburse Cohen and said he was paid via retainer.

In the Hannity interview, Giuliani said of the $130,000 payment that Trump "didn't know about the specifics of it, as far as I know".

President Trump poured doubt Friday onto statements made by his new attorney, Rudy Giuliani, about the case in which another lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid to silence the porn actress Stormy Daniels.

Last month, a federal judge in Los Angeles granted a 90-day stay in Daniels' original lawsuit, because Cohen may face a possible indictment in the criminal investigation by the FBI. Chief of staff John Kelly was among the aides who watched the Giuliani interview with shock on Wednesday.

Hours later, Giuliani issued a statement in which he tried to back away from his previous suggestion that the $130,000 payment was made because Trump was in the stretch run of the 2016 campaign.

It came as Mr Trump said he would "love to" speak to special counsel Robert Mueller in the Russian Federation probe but tells reporters he wants to ensure he'd be "treated fairly".

He birdied 7 and 8 to make the turn at one under before giving it back at 10 when his drive missed carrying the bunker by a yard. Most players and caddies are in a hurry to get off property late in the afternoon when they have an early tee time the next day.

On Friday, Trump told reporters on his way out to his helicopter that Giuliani's facts hadn't been correct, and there "has been a lot of misinformation", without saying what had been wrong. "He's a great guy".

Though Trump and Giuliani defended the payment episode, critics said it violated the campaign finance laws as it was an undeclared contribution made at averting negative publicity for the candidate.

Pressed on whether he knew where Cohen got the money to make the payment, he said: "No, I don't know. No".

Trump took Giuliani to the woodshed for his gaffe Friday morning.

When Trump (played once again by Alec Baldwin) asked Stormy what she wanted to put their alleged affair to rest, her response was short and blunt: "A resignation".

In an interview with The New York Times on Friday, Giuliani sought to clarify his statements by saying that he did not know whether Trump had known that some of the payments to Cohen had gone to Clifford.

If he can outshine Ronaldo in Kiev, the ultimate individual prize may be next. "We still needed a third goal", the defender said. Meanwhile, Klopp has lost his previous five finals as a manage, including in the Europa League against Sevilla two seasons ago.

"You take a look at what I said", he added.

Mr Trump had previously denied knowing about the payments but admitted a day ago on Twitter that Mr Cohen was reimbursed for the payment.

Viewers even got treated to a brand new impression from the always wonderful Kate McKinnon, doing her best take on Rudy Giuliani, thanks to some freakish prosthetics and impeccable delivery.

Trump is facing mounting legal threats from the special counsel's investigation and the Cohen-Daniels situation.

"I hired that clown", Giuliani said of Comey.

In the annals of disgraced Trump lackeys who enjoyed embarrassingly brief tenures in jobs they were exceptionally bad at doing, Anthony Scaramucci may soon be in good company.

An earlier report from NBC News suggested that Kelly had called the president "an idiot" in private and viewed himself as the only bulwark against what he sees as chaotic decision-making by Trump.
