Manager Joe Maddon told reporters Wednesday that Bryant is "fine", but will need to meet with Cubs team doctor Stephen Adams on Thursday.

"Obviously, we've got guys who are swinging the bat pretty well who can play first base", Stearns said Wednesday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Darvish cruised into the fifth, the inning which had been his Achilles heel in three of his first four starts as a Cub.

Despite a Beat, Shares Sag — Microsoft Earnings
Microsoft shares, which are up nearly 40 percent over the past year, rose slightly after closing 2.1 percent higher at $94.26. Microsoft's own revenue forecast had been $25.25 billion to $25.95 billion.

Brewers first baseman Eric Thames had surgery on his left thumb, and Milwaukee said it expects him to return in six-to-eight weeks.

Darvish said he felt like he was lapsing after Milwaukee starter Brent Suter singled off him in the fifth, but Maddon's advice kept him on track. The offense had really been playing well as they had averaged 6.83 rpg in their six games prior to game one, but they have now scored a total of two runs in the first two games of this series after falling 3-2 on Friday.

At Wrigley Field, Darvish limited the damage to an unearned run and yielded just three hits and two walks to the 24 batters he faced.

EPA chief Pruitt faces congressional grilling on spending, ethics
Documents later showed EPA chief of staff Ryan Jackson signed off on the raises and indicated he had Pruitt's consent. David McKinley (R-W.Va.) accused Democrats of engaging in "McCarthyism" with their attacks on Pruitt's spending.

Right-hander Yu Darvish was cruising along in his second start at Wrigley Field in a Cubs uniform when he reached the dreaded fifth inning - and managed to get through it unscathed. He got a no-decision in the game while taking the loss was Dan Jennings, who allowed an unearned run. He exited with his team holding a 2-1 lead, but the Brewers tied the game in the top of the seventh.

Jeremy Jeffress fanned Almora for the second out and got Javier Baez to bounce to Sogard, who allowed the ball to squib out of his glove near second, then threw wildly past the base while trying for an inning-ending forceout. Pedro Strop picked up the win in relief.

Carl Edwards Jr. and Brandon Morrow sealed the deal as the Cubs improved to 13-10 on the season with their second straight one-run win over their Central Division rivals. Last year, the slugger was hit by a pitch 15 times. Matt Davidson hit two of Chicago's five home runs, leading the White Sox to a victory over Kansas City. "And from what I've seen, he always has had a good eye at the plate and doesn't chase (pitches) a whole lot".

Ben Carson Wants to Triple Rent for the Poorest of the Poor
