The railway crossing where the accident took place is said to have been unmanned. "The injured children were immediately hospitalised and there is the possibility that death toll may go up".
Thirteen children were killed and six critically injured when a train rammed into a school van at an unmanned crossing on Thursday. All students are said to be from Divine Public School.
According to railway ministry officials, the train which was on its way to Gorakhpur from Siwan, dragged the school van for over 100 meters before coming to a halt. An inquiry has been ordered.

He also announced an ex gratia of Rs two lakh each to the families of the deceased.
Along with children, the driver has also been killed in the accident.
