The Republican from Texas originally announced he would not seek re-election after a 2017 report that he used $84,000 in taxpayer money to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit with a former staffer.

Though, Farenthold had continued to deny such allegations but have taken the responsibility for the use of inappropriate language and his role in creating a hostile workplace.
