Nokia 8 Sirocco top features; Curved glass finish, wireless charging and more

05 April 2018

The Nokia 6 (2018) will be available from 6th March whereas the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco can be pre-booked from 20th March.

The Nokia 1 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) and is a part of the Android One program. Now Finnish site Suomimobiili has put out the specifications sheet of Nokia 9, revealing details of the upcoming smartphone. Well, that's something only time will tell. The 3 made its first appearance at the MWC 2018 back in February besides the Nokia 1 and Nokia 8110 4G. There's no denying that it is arguably the least exciting of the three phones announced, but at Rs 16,999, it will give a good fight to the competition in the segment. This is coupled with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM and a microSD slot which can be used to expand storage.

Since it features a Zeiss Optics Camera, it would be getting the Nokia pro camera app also. Powering the package is a 3000 mAh battery. The display is not of 18:9 ratio, which most of the smartphones follow in these days.

Sinclair's forced script reveals the corrupt hypocrisy of its motives
Co-host Mika Brzezinski said she was surprised some of the local anchors didn't refuse to read it. The company owns ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox outlets, and the Sinclair branding is not always clear.

The dimensions of the smartphone stand at 150.6 x 75.2 x 7.3 mm, suggesting that the smartphone will be 7.3 mm thin. The display also has 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. With enhanced Dual-Sight, dual rear sensors with ZEISS optics combine an ultra-sensitive 12MP wide-angle primary camera for excellent performance in both low-light and extra bright conditions and a secondary 13MP camera that delivers 2x optical zoom for the moments when you wish you were closer.

The primary camera in the tri-camera setup of Nokia 9 will be a 41-megapixel shooter. When it comes to internals, 7 Plus features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 512 GPU for graphics-intensive tasks. The Nokia 9 will run Android 8.1 Oreo and will come with a 3,900 mAh battery with Quick Charge Quick Charge 4.0 and fast Qi wireless charging.

The phone seems impressive with its specs but might be a little pricey for the Indian smartphone market at Rs 25,999. It will be available via Amazon India, the Nokia Mobile Shop, and select outlets such as Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, Croma and Reliance Digital, in Black/ Copper and White/ Copper colour variants.

Putin says Russia, Turkey agreed to speed up delivery of S-400s
In December, Ankara and Moscow finalised an agreement for Turkey to purchase Russia's long-range S-400 missile defence system. The number of power plants under construction will be 56, including Akkuyu plant.

Question: Can the internal storage in the Nokia 8 Sirocco be expanded? Though the Sirocco is a premium device, it has a merely 5-megapixel front camera and an older Snapdragon 835 chipset that make it incapable of challenging the iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. It has dual diamond-polished stainless-steel frame.

It has support for fast charging also, something that wasn't there in the previous one.

But that's where the fun ends.

United Nations chief urges Yemen peace talks
The UN called the incident "one of the deadliest attacks on children since the conflict in Yemen escalated in March 2015". The UN secretary-general urged the warring sides in Yemen for a political settlement.

As for the Nokia 8 Sirocco, it sports a 5.5-inch QHD P-OLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. HMD Global has added a dual pixel phase detection technology to the dual camera setup to improve the focusing capabilities of the camera. Zacks Investment Research raised shares of Nokia from a "hold" rating to a "buy" rating and set a $6.00 target price for the company in a research report on Thursday, March 29th.
