USA has not heard back from NK about summit: Tillerson

A Press Advisory from the US Embassy said Tillerson would hold talks with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, March 13.

Since taking office past year, three of US top officials - President Trump, Vice President Pence and Secretary Tillerson - have visited all regions- except Africa.

He said the visit would be part of his "condolence and sympathy visits to areas where we have had unfortunate events". Trump later denied making the comment.

Tillerson says Chad has taken important, positive steps to strengthen control over its passports and improve information-sharing.

The U.S Secretary of State said Nigeria was a very important country to America, stressing: "You have our support in your challenges".

Tillerson is expected to hold a press conference with Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs, after meeting with Buhari.

Chad is an important USA ally in the fight against Islamist groups in West Africa and the report will be reviewed by President Donald Trump next month.

Tillerson, while in East Africa, cancelled scheduled events on Saturday on the grounds of ill-health.
