Reply is working on bringing Smart Reply to all messaging apps

14 February 2018

One of the many projects that we're working on within Area 120 is Reply, which suggests smart replies right in notifications from various chat apps.

Now, a new app being tested by Area 120, an experimental division within Google, aims to bring smart reply to popular chat apps such as Android Messages (for all users), Google Hangouts, WhatsApp, Skype, and others.

In an email to the volunteers, Area 120 said, "You probably get a lot of messages".

Reply is created to work with a number of popular messaging services, including Google Hangouts and Allo, Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Android Messages, Skype, Twitter direct messages and Slack.

Nevertheless, one ought to note that since Romero missed weight he wasn't eligible to win the Interim UFC Middleweight title. But when Whittaker contracted a staph infection and was forced to pull out in January, Romero stepped in on short notice.

Google's Smart Reply uses the firm's neural network to intelligently analyse a message's content to suggest an appropriate response.

In another screenshot that Area 120 shared, the team shows that Reply can take Smart Replies and elevate them to the next level. But the feature has not been made available to all Android Messages users as of yet.

First introduced in Gmail's Inbox, it gives users a choice of three responses to choose from based on the results of millions of email replies. For example, when one's phone is on silent mode, Reply can bypass this and play the usual alert tone when it determines that a message is too urgent.

The AI-driven Smart Reply feature from Google could allow users to send quick responses to simple messages across platforms, saving time.

It's hard to imagine how quickly Google will be able to finish this project given that it involves bringing it to third-party apps and the fact that Smart Reply still feels limited even on Google's own set of services.

However, Reply doesn't just replicate Smart Replies. The app is now only being offered to Android users as part of a test, which select people have been invited to.

The feature could launch in a variety of chat apps, including business favorite Slack. But what if you've had enough and want out?

There would also be a vacation responder that would automatically reply while you are in an area without cell service for an extended period.
