Panthers' interim GM on leave after harassment allegation

08 February 2018

Interim Panthers GM Marty Hurney has been accused of "harassment" by his ex-wife and placed on paid leave by the team.

A judge rejected a temporary restraining order requested by Jeanne Hurney last week after she filed a complaint. Two days later on Sunday was when Hurney let the Panthers know of the protective order, who then subsequently notified the NFL.

The NFL's investigation into allegations against Hurney comes just months after former owner Jerry Richardson stepped down as the Panthers' owner. She also detailed that she had changed her locks at her home multiple times. Chapman set a February 16 hearing on the complaint.

Lord Burnett of Maldon wrote in his decision that prosecution of Love in England was not "oppressive" given his mental condition. Love faced a prison sentence of up to 99 years if he were extradited and found guilty in U.S. courts.

Jeanne Hurney called the situation "really emotional" and directed questions to her attorney, Jonathan Feit, who didn't respond to The Charlotte Observer's inquiries on Tuesday. "My privacy has been violated for the past seven years with Martin's behaviors of tracking me, my pets and violating my property", the complaint reads.

On top of the possible home violence, Jeanne included in her complaint that she believes Marty or his associates broke into her home where the "intruders" placed notes in her books around words like "terrorize" and "victim".

The NFL will continue its investigation.

Amtrak train collides with freight train, killing 2 and injuring 70
The Amtrak train , which was operating between New England and Florida, had 139 passengers and eight crew members on board. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the names of the deceased at a press conference on Sunday afternoon.

When the Panthers made a decision to let Gettleman go last July, Hurney was brought in on an interim basis because of the level of familiarity that the organization had with him.

Adding to the drama was Jeanne Hurney's withdrawal of her complaint. Hurney was named the Panthers interim general manager in July 2017 to replace Dave Gettleman.

Marty Hurney is considered one of the top candidates for the Panthers' full-time general manager opening and was set to interview with the club last week.
