This Season's Craziest Bachelor Twist Didn't Even Happen on The Bachelor

03 February 2018

On Thursday, a story in the North Coast Journal on 35 people now missing in Humboldt County, California, included Rebekah Martinez.

After someone commented on the Facebook post to notify The North Coast Journal of Martinez's reality TV stardom and her location, they contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office.

Ten minutes later, the deputy emailed Karges back: "I just got off the phone with Rebekah". Samantha confirmed that, after speaking with Bekah on the phone, they'd confirmed she was the same person and is, obviously, not missing after all.

Bekah Martinez was not actually missing and has since been removed from the Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit.

Warning for Assad after latest attack
The officials weren't authorized to speak on the record and briefed reporters on condition of anonymity. Several children were also affected, the group said.

Martinez was active on Instagram during the time she was listed as missing, the Journal reported. "Bekah had told her she was coming to Humboldt County to work on a marijuana farm and she wouldn't be able to contact her for a week or so".

A month later, on December 12, a deputy reached out to Martinez's mother, asking if she had heard from her daughter.

She started posting again November 23, after she was reported missing.

Bekah Martinez, a contestant on this season of "The Bachelor", was featured on a list of missing people in the North Coast Journal.

Polar bears might be worse off than we thought, study finds
But the report does conclude with one seemingly inescapable conclusion for polar bears facing the same situation as those studied. The decline of Arctic sea ice amid global climate change is making polar bears travel farther to find prey such as ringed seals.

She is one of nine women who remain in contention for the affections of Arie Luyendyk Jr. on the television show, and was she was unavailable for interviews on Friday. The mother told deputies that she had last talked to her daughter on a friend's cell six days earlier and Martinez told her mother she was going to work on a marijuana farm and would see her in about a week.

Sure enough, someone noticed that one of the young women looked a lot like Martinez. Her next post was dated November 22. It was posted to Facebook and the publication asked its readers if they recognized anybody. She didn't post again until November 23, a timespan that corresponds with her Bachelor filming schedule.

As explained in a North Coast Journal follow-up article, the 22-year-old Martinez posted September 17 on social media that she'd be "giving up" her phone and social media for several weeks.

She also took the time to mock her driver's license photo.

Second woman 'arrested' in Tehran for hijab protest
Many Islamists believe hijab should not be imposed by the law, though they consider it a religious task for every Muslim woman. Despite the fear of reprisals, millions of women in Iran defy the restrictions on a daily basis.
