[RUMOR] Apple is expanding iPhone X lineup

30 January 2018

Nikkei claims that, as a result, Apple has chose to halve the production target for its flagship smartphone in the first quarter of 2018 from 40 million units to 20 million units.

But the two headline devices are the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Plus models. According to Kuo, the new iPhone X and larger Plus model will both have 4GB of RAM, while the larger handset's battery will grow by 25 percent to offer a capacity of between 3,300 and 3,400 mAh.

While sales of the iPhone X have been strong in the USA, the device has reportedly failed to catch on as much globally.

Rakuten and Walmart join hands for online grocery delivery in Japan
Walmart operates 11,600 stores under almost 59 banners in 28 countries, and ecommerce websites in 11 countries. A dedicated Rakuten Seiyu Netsuper fulfilment centre will also be created.

Following "disappointing holiday season sales", Nikkei reports that Apple has informed suppliers that as of March the company will be cutting iPhone X orders from 40 million units to around 20 million, a multi-billion dollar blow to Apple's supply chain who are seeing iPhone orders slashed in half.

For example, Murata Manufacturing has been churning out its MetroCirc circuit boards - key to making the phones as thin as they are - around the clock since early January.

"After the first wave of demand has been fulfilled, the market now worries that the high price of the iPhone X may weaken demand in the first quarter", Zhang wrote.

Trade Body in US Backs Bombardier Versus Boeing
Analysts said Boeing's bid for help ultimatelyfell short because the company overreached, asserting an unsupported injury claim. It alone is responsible for the design, manufacture and assembly of the advanced composite wings for every CSeries aircraft.

However, when BGR India reached out to Apple to know more about the same, we were told that the story is "highly speculative", and no further comment was shared.

The company's latest phone was released to the market in November for $999.

Coming to the design aesthetics of the new iPhone, it might be a almost full screen design similar to the iPhone X from previous year with no home button and a notch for TrueDepth sensors. Stock investors are already becoming nervous about the impact of weak iPhone X sales on parts suppliers. This could also slow the shift by display manufacturers from LCD to OLED technology. However, he expects the devices to sell well, particularly the less expensive 6.1-inch iPhone.
