Padmaavat violence: 18 arrested for pelting stones on school bus in Gurugram

Suspected members of the Rajpur Karni Sena even set a school bus on fire and burned down a state transport bus on Sohna Road in Gurugram, according to NDTV.

"I want to assure all cinema-goers and theater-owners on behalf of Haryana Police that we are giving full protection to all cinema halls showing the film", Haryana Police chief BS Sandhu said.

The Congress on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Haryana's BJP government after violence in Gurugram earlier in the day by a mob protesting against the release of "Padmaavat".

Prohibitory orders have been imposed here till Sunday to maintain law and order in view of the Karni Sena's threat to target theatres screening the film.

The police were deployed on the spot and an investigation is underway.

At least 15 people were arrested in connection with the violent protest against the release of the film in Maharashtra's Pune as well.
