County Officials Warn Of Increase Influenza Activity Statewide; Offers Safety Advice

The flu season shows no sign of slowing down with 478 confirmed cases in Central Alberta and 49 people ending up in hospital.

Four flu deaths have been reported to the Arkansas Department of Health in the past two weeks, bringing the total deaths in the state to 12 during this year's flu season.

Health and Human Services officials in Boone County said they saw 144 lab confirmed cases of the flu in the week of December 17-23.

It's also possible that the number of people infected is much higher because false negative results on flu tests are "not uncommon" this time of year, she told the paper.

And at least twelve children have died from catching the flu this season.
