Ex alcoholic addict CBS46 anchor dies while traveling to father's funeral

According to reports by CBS 46, Davis was at the Atlanta airport when she suffered the stroke.

She had recently written about her father's death on Twitter.

The Emmy-winning journalist was known for her work for Atlanta's Fox affiliate WAGA-TV, where she worked for 26 years.

At the time of her feature, Davis had been plagued by a series of DUI arrests, claiming difficulties with a past relationship saw her slowly transforming from a "social drinker" to someone with a genuine disorder. "Amanda's companions and associates at CBS 46 are appealing to God for her family".

She captioned it, "Stay strong, keep praising the Lord ❤️" The comment thread is now filled with expressions of grief about Davis' own death. She was en route to San Antonio, Texas, to attend the funeral of a family member, CBS46 News Director Steve Doerr said. She became a main anchor five years later, according to FOX5, but retired from the station in 2013.

Davis, a popular face in Atlanta news, wasn't shy about sharing her story of overcoming the odds.
