During Trump inaugural, Flynn greenlighted nuclear project with Russian Federation

07 December 2017

On President Donald Trump's Inauguration Day, a former business parter of incoming National Security Adviser Michael Flynn allegedly bragged that Flynn told him Trump would quickly lift United States sanctions on Russia - a move that would pave the way for a controversial plan to build nuclear plants across the Middle East, with Russian help.

The witness's account, made public on Wednesday by the ranking Democrat on the House oversight committee, raises new concerns about the extent to which Flynn may have blurred his private and public interests during his brief stint inside the White House.

'Our committee has credible allegations that President Trump's National Security Advisor sought to manipulate the course of worldwide nuclear policy for the financial gain of his former business partners, ' wrote Cummings, Politico reported in a story on the letter.

Alex Copson, the managing partner of ACU Strategic Partners, received texts from Flynn during Trump's inauguration January 20 saying the deal was "good to go", according to Cummings.

"These grave allegations compel a full, credible and bipartisan congressional investigation", Cummings wrote, according to the New York Times. The account provides the strongest claim yet that the administration was focused on unraveling the sanctions that President Barack Obama had just put in place and that Flynn had a personal motivation for doing so.

Supermoon lights up Southland skies
This weekend, a remarkable supermoon lit up the sky and made for some pretty unbelievable photos for those lucky enough to see it. The rises over Polish Hill in #Pittsburgh tonight, glowing an eerie red as it ascends into the night sky just after sunset.

The whistleblower told House Democrats that while Trump spoke at his inauguration, Flynn texted from his seat on the Capitol steps to Alex Copson, the managing director of ACU Strategic Partners and the nuclear project's main promoter.

Prosecutors "asked my office to hold on the public release of this information until they completed certain investigative steps", Cummings wrote.

The company did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday.

Copson allegedly told those around him that "Mike [Flynn] has been putting everything in place for us".

The White House aide was said to have been referring to plans by a consortium of US, Russian and French companies to build and operate 45 nuclear power plants in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries.

MS Dhoni set to join CSK squad for IPL 2018 edition
CSK and RR were banned from the IPL for two seasons in July 2015 following some of their team owners' involvement in corruption. The decision was taken during the IPL Governing Council's meeting with the Committee of Administrators (CoA) here.

But reports over the last few months have suggested that Flynn continued to promote the project after the election, and even after he had been sworn in as national security adviser.

Cummings said he had found the unnamed informant to be "authentic, credible and reliable", and offered to produce the person for Gowdy. He and Cummings jointly exposed details that Flynn had lied on his security clearance forms earlier this year, though Chaffetz later backed off the inquiry despite the Democratic demands.

Attorneys for Flynn and Copson did not immediately return email and phone requests for comment.

It also raised fresh questions on what Trump knew about Flynn's business plans when he appointed the retired three- star general to serve as his national security advisor. Cummings said his office could not verify the whistleblower's story, and whether Copson was telling the whistleblower the truth, without subpoenaed documents.
