Riverdale's success both on The CW and on Netflix around the world likely played into Netflix picking up the series for a two-season order. Now, that desire has become a reality, and Sabrina is coming to Netflix.
Sources say that the show is set to shoot back-to-back with the first series of episodes filming from February to June and the second from June to October. The new series will reportedly be based on Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Robert Hack's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a supernatural horror series from Archie Comics' horror imprint.
Tiger Woods keen to show his children what he is capable of
Eight of the world's Top-10 players will feature in the field that is one of the strongest ever in an invitational event. First came the police video showing the officers conducting a sobriety test on Woods, who looked catatonic.
Ever since Riverdale reimagined the Archie comics as a dark, sexy Twin Peaks-esque teen drama, there's been a growing desire to bring original Archie Comics character Sabrina the Teenage Witch into the mix.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is being written by Aguirre-Sacasa, with Lee Toland Krieger directing and Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Like Riverdale, this show's going to err on the side of spooky.
The show was initially put into development at The CW in September. The series is described as being tonally in the vein of horror classics like "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist", and will see Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family, and the daylight world humans inhabit. Riverdale's season two debut grew astoundingly from its midseason series debut, becoming the first evidence of the impact SVOD deals have on network television.
Parvez Musharraf declares full support for terror groups-Lashkar and JuD
In the interview, Musharraf also claimed his liking for the LeT founder Hafiz Saeed, who has a $10 million USA bounty on his head. Musharraf is now in Dubai, where he has taken refuge after Pakistan charged him with treason.
Friday's announcement from Archie Comics detailed the series as a new take on the character's origin, which sounds like a far cry from the comedy sitcom that starred Melissa Joan Hart from 1996 to 2003.
Expanding the Archie Comics universe may ultimately prove harder for The CW than for Netflix, even though Warner Bros. No word on if that plan has changed now that the show has jumped from The CW to Netflix.
