"We anticipate both of them by year end", Commercial Aircraft President Fred Cromer told reporters.

Bombardier has won a major order for its C Series aircraft from EgyptAir, worth at least $1bn.

Less than a month after Airbus agreed to rescue Bombardier's struggling C Series jet program, Bombardier has announced a second order for the narrowbody passenger plane.

Earlier this month, Montreal-based Bombardier said an unidentified European customer was planning to buy 31 CSeries aircraft with options for 30 more.

"We are respecting the customer's wishes to not disclose the identity", Cromer said from Dubai, referring to the European buyer. The deal is valued at $1.1 billion before discounts.

As of September 30, Bombardier had taken 360 total orders for CS100s and CS300s, and delivered just 19.

The total list-price value of the deal rises to $2.2 billion if all options are exercised.

Bombardier has faced a series of problems over the plane, most recently a trade dispute in the U.S. that imposed a 300% import tariff.

The US trade department imposed tariffs of 300% on the C Series as it upheld a complaint from Boeing over subsidies the aircraft received from the Canadian and United Kingdom governments.
