Hope Solo accuses ex-FIFA president Sepp Blatter of sexual assault

Hope Solo, the former longtime U.S. Women's National Team goalkeeper, says ex-FIFA president Sepp Blatter touched her inappropriately just before the two went on stage at an awards ceremony in 2013.

"Can-I-talk-about-that-" target="_blank">Portuguese magazine Expresso about sexual harassment in women's sports and its prevalence.

In the interview with Portuguese newspaper Expresso, Solo claimed that the sexual assault had happened just moments before the pair went on stage together to present the award.

"I had Sepp Blatter grab my ass".

She said that she prefers to confront people directly, and that with Blatter the incident took place seconds before they went on stage, and she was unable to to confront him at that point and didn't have an opportunity later on. She captioned the post:"For the past few days, I have been thinking about all the uncomfortable situations myself and/or my team-mates have experienced throughout the years with trainers, doctors, coaches, executives and even team-mates".

"I usually speak directly with the person".

Blatter, who was reached via his spokesman, denied the allegation in a statement. "In other cases, for instance, I've told my teammates: 'Don't ever f-- touch me!"
