His Name Is George Papadopoulos … No, The Other One

03 November 2017

The idea was raised by George Papadopoulos as he introduced himself at a March 2016 meeting of the Republican candidate's foreign policy advisers, according to a court filing.

The Russian International Relations Council has confirmed contact with Papadopoulos, but said a meeting never took place.

Papadopoulos was living in London when he joined the Trump campaign as an adviser in March, according to a 14-page statement of offense signed by Mueller released Monday.

Papadopoulos continued to push a meeting with the Russians, and he sent multiple emails to other members of the campaign foreign policy team about his contact with "the Russians" and "outreach to Russia", according to the statement.

Papadopoulos' lawyer, Thomas M. Breen, based in Chicago, declined to comment on the guilty plea but noted that "we will have the opportunity to comment on George's involvement when called upon by the court at a later date".

According to the committee, the equivalent of only $1 was spent on the ad, generating 71 impressions and 14 interactions. Among those targeted with the ad were those who liked Gun Rights, National Rifle Association and The Second Amendment.

George Papadopoulos is not only the name of a former Trump campaign aide who has pleaded guilty to lying to federal agents, but also a financial planner in MI - who is desperately trying to make clear that he is not that George Papadopoulos. Two of the unnamed campaign officials referenced are in fact former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his business associate Rick Gates.

He also argued that USA sanctions against Russia over the annexation of Crimea "have done little more than to turn Russia towards China as a primary market for Russian goods, services and energy".

In an interview on MSNBC, Page, who's scheduled to testify behind closed doors before a House intelligence committee panel Thursday, said he "might have been" on email threads with Papadopoulos where Russian Federation "may have come up from time to time", but clarified that "nothing major" was discussed.

It's unclear how frequently Papadopoulos was in contact with the campaign officials.

The indictment makes no mention of Russia's role, which Mr Peskov said showed that "Russia isn't part of it".

On pardons, Sekulow says: "I have not had a conversation with the president regarding pardons".

In court papers, Mifsud is described only as a "London professor" who met repeatedly with Papadopoulos and offered to set up meetings with Russian officials who could provide "thousands of emails" with damaging information about Clinton.

The White House had braced over the weekend for an indictment of Manafort and for allegations of financial misconduct that it could dismiss as unrelated to the campaign or administration. The Justice Department had no comment.

Asked about a pending announcement of his foreign policy team, Trump listed Papadopoulos as one of five advisers.

"Need to change your name to Not That George Papadopoulos", tweeted @astrosgirlkel. Papadopoulos angered some on the foreign policy team in early May by urging former British Prime Minister David Cameron to apologize after calling Trump "divisive, stupid and wrong".

Sergio Aguero became Manchester City's all-time leading goalscorer after finishing off this superb counterattack. Man City bagged an equaliser 13 minutes later through Otamendi, who headed home from a Ilkay Gundogan cross.

Papadopoulos continued to email high-ranking campaign officials about a request from Russian Federation to meet Trump.
