Rose McGowan Says Harvey Weinstein Offered Her $1 Million for Her Silence

30 October 2017

In speaking to the New York Times, McGowan said the offer came when several women were speaking on the record with the Times and Ronan Farrow for what emerged as two bombshell reports on decades of Harvey Weinstein's alleged sexual harassment and sexual assault.

Shortly before the rash of allegations against Weinstein came out, he offered McGowan $1 million to keep quiet about her own story.

The Charmed star, who talked privately about the Weinstein hotel incident and referred to it vaguely in social media, told The Times: "I had all these people I'm paying telling me to take it so that I could fund my art". The lawyer told her "y$3 ou're an actress, you've done a sex scene, you're done", according to McGowan.

McGowan, who starred in the Weinstein-produced movie Scream, responded by making a counteroffer of $US6 million, which she eventually retracted.

National Park Service Considers Fee Increases For Some Parks
Theresa Pierno, the CEO of the nonpartisan charity National Parks Conservation Association , criticised the proposed move. Ultimately, whether or not entry fees are raised at the 17 parks, the NPS is celebrating something of a tourism boom.

"I figured I could presumably have gotten him up to three", she said. "But I was like - ew, gross, you're disgusting, I don't want your money, that would make me feel disgusting". McGowan's lawyer, Paul Coggins, confirmed to The Times that the actress received the offer.

A spokeswoman for Weinstein has said he "unequivocally denies any allegations of nonconsensual sex".

"The triggering has been insane - the monster's face everywhere, my nightmare", she said. Though McGowan had previously revealed she was a rape survivor and that her assault was perpetrated by a powerful studio boss, she did not comment in the October 5 story.

McGowan recounts the alleged 1997 encounter to the Times, describing a business meeting with Weinstein at the Sundance Film Festival that year. Woodward said. "She wanted to fight". I have been harassed.

After numerous times of implying to what unfolded, not long ago Rose McGowan uncovered Harvey Weinstein had raped her in an inn room when she was a youthful and on-the-ascent performing artist in 1997. I've been maligned. And you know what? I'm just like you, ' McGowan told those assembled at the event. When recalling starring in 2007's Grindhouse, which was distributed by Bob Weinstein's Dimension, McGowan said: "I was really lost at that point".

"What happened to me behind the scenes happens to all of us in society and it can not stand and it will not stand", she said.
