Nawaz Sharif is set to be re-elected as the president of Pakistan's ruling PML-N on Tuesday after the party Monday agreed to amend its Constitution and pave the way for the ousted prime minister's return.

The Central Working Committee (CWC) of the PML-N in its meeting at the Punjab House yesterday unanimously approved a resolution moved by Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal in his capacity as the party's acting secretary general to make necessary changes to the party constitution to make Sharif party chief.

The bar is, however, being removed through the Electoral Reforms Bill 2017 passed by the National Assembly on Aug 22 and the Senate, with some amendments, a month later on Sept 22.
