On Sept. 1, Kenya's Supreme Court annulled the result of the country's recent presidential elections, held on August 8.

The decision of the court, nullifying the re-election of a sitting president came after the coalition of Raila Odinga, the veteran opposition leader brought the petition against the election board to the Supreme Court.

"It's a very historic day for the people of Kenya and by extension the people of Africa", said opposition candidate Raila Odinga, who had challenged the vote.

Odinga has called for the election commission to resign and for some officials to face criminal prosecution.
