Tamil Nadu Power Struggle May End With Merger As AIADMK Removes Dinakaran

11 August 2017

According to reports, the faction led by Panneerselvam had asked the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to remove jailed General Secretary V.K. Sasikala and her family members from the party before the merger. He also wondered how the Palaniswami camp could comment against Sasikala when they themselves had furnished an affidavit to the EC, endorsing her appointment as party chief.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting of the party office-bearers, held at the AIADMK Headquarters in the city.

World Trade Center Victim Identified Nearly 16 Years After 9/11 Terror Attacks
In some cases, scientists have gone back to the same bone fragment 10 or more times , hoping new technology will provide answers. Till date 40% of people, i.e., 1,112 people still remain unidentified almost 16 years after the terror attack.

After months of factionalism, the AIADMK seems headed for a merger between the O Panneerselvam and E Palaniswami factions, with the Sasikala camp set to lose cointrol of Tamil Nadu's ruling party. This is because he had been expelled from the party in 2011 by late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, and had thus not been a member of the party for five consecutive years, as mandated. Panneerselvam is adamant on the removal of party chief VK Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dinakaran, which will lead to another round of power struggle.

OPS, meanwhile, said his side is "keenly" watching the situation and that a decision on a possible merger of the party's two factions will be taken "reflective" of people's expectations.

Scandals aside, airlines actually don't bump that many people off flights
The department has launched an airline passenger website to make it easy for travelers to understand their rights. The department said 76.2 percent of flights in June arrived on time, down from 78.0 percent in June 2016.

The two factions have been fighting for a long time for the party symbol - two leaves - that is being heard by the Election Commission.

The AIADMK also said that Dinakaran was creating confusion by appointing several party office bearers.

Penticton MLA responds to Clark resignation
Clark's announcement came almost a month after a confidence vote on June 29 toppled the narrowly-elected Liberals. In addition to resigning her party leadership, Clark also gave up her seat in Kelowna-West.

AIADMK has been one among the prestigious parties of Tamil Nadu. Dhinakaran said the same leaders who were now talking against them were the ones who had campaigned for him in the RK Nagar bypoll which was subsequently cancelled. Her camp then moved party MLAs to a resort ahead of a crucial trust vote. It is understood that the BJP was nudging both the factions to unite and even consider the prospects of joining the NDA formally. "But I can tell you that will not happen", a Dinakaran loyalist said. Former minister KP Munusamy said two central demands of the faction are yet to be met. They are now headed to Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. Without naming anyone, he said action would be taken against those who had forgotten about who had appointed them to their current positions in the government and those who had joined hands with rivals to continue on their posts.
