Iran Calls for US Study on Washington's Record in Implementing JCPOA

15 July 2017

The US is failing to uphold the "spirit" of the 2015 nuclear agreement, protested Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif up on arriving in NY for a United Nations forum today.

The administration faces a Monday deadline, imposed by Congress, to affirm that Tehran is abiding by restrictions on its nuclear program, for which it receives sanctions relief.

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif suggested the USA to reconsider its policy towards the landmark nuclear deal.

The recertification, due Monday to Congress, follows a heated internal debate between those who want to crack down on Iran now - including some White House officials and lawmakers - and Cabinet officials who are "managing other constituencies" such as European allies, and Russian Federation and China, which signed and support the agreement, one senior USA official said.

Under the deal, the State Department must notify Congress every 90 days on Iran's compliance under the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Wimbledon doubles campaign over for Kiwi Michael Venus after gruelling quarter-final
Murray wasn't looking good with his injury. "It's nice to see different guys, maybe". "I think he's just in better position". This time around, Federer is yet to drop a set and has just had a number of months off, so fatigue shouldn't be an issue.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the foreign minister added that he has no plan to meet the United States officials in his recent trip to NY.

"The worst deal I think I've ever seen negotiated that you started is the Iran deal".

A senior fellow at the Center for the Study of the Middle East of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Candidate of Historical Sciences Elena Dunayeva, speaking to Vestnik Kavkaza, noted that Anti-Iranian rhetoric, which is now being heated in the USA, does not threaten a nuclear deal with Iran in any way.

The nuclear deal was sealed in Vienna in July 2015 after 18 months of negotiations led by Secretary of State John Kerry and diplomats from the other four permanent members of the U.N. Security Council - Britain, China, France and Russian Federation - and Germany.

Zarif will also deliver a speech at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in a ceremony attended by CFR chairman Richard Haass on July 17, 2017, the spokesman said earlier.

Queen Elizabeth Welcomes Spain's Queen Letizia to England
Felipe and Letizia are the first Spanish monarchs to visit Britain since Felipe's father toured the country in the 1980s. Last September, Felipe used his address to the UN General Assembly in NY to call for a negotiated handover of The Rock.

Zarif pointed to the ongoing campaign against terrorism and extremism across the Middle East, particularly in Iraq and Syria, and noted that the current crisis is mainly caused by the USA interventionist policies in the region.

"This menace. has been the result of short-sighted policies from the outside and unfortunately, negative policies by countries in the region who continue to sponsor, to support and provide arms and money to terrorists and extremist organizations and unfortunately provide the ideology of hatred and exclusion which lies at the heart of these extremist movements", Zarif noted.

"Now, all our efforts are focused on a comprehensive ceasefire in coordination with Russian Federation and Turkey through Astana talks, to send the humanitarian helps and relieve the Syrian people's sufferings and pains", Zarif asserted.

The negotiations are aimed at bringing an end to the foreign-backed militancy in Syria, which began in March 2011.
