According to the accusations, she obtained bank loans for Burlington College, a now-defunct liberal arts college with approximately 200 undergraduates that she served as president of from 2004 to 2011.
Analysis shows slight advantage for GOP in Kentucky House districts
Roughly 20 percent of seats up for election had just one major party candidate - seven for Republicans and six for Democrats. House seats than the party otherwise would have won in last year's election, an Associated Press analysis found.
So how is Bernie Sanders involved in this case? "I don't think there are many Americans who think that we [should] give unbelievably large tax breaks to billionaires and then tell disabled kids or people who are in nursing homes today because of Medicaid that we're going to punish them", Sanders told Cooper. That bank loan was contingent on Sanders's promising that she had secured $5 million in donations and $2.4 million in confirmed pledges (i.e., donations that Burlington College officials had not yet received but that would be coming soon).
Sen. Sanders previously called the allegations "nonsense", but last month during an interview with Kyle Midura of Burlington TV station WCAX he was pressed and his response was noticeably different.
Sanders also noted to the local media that the investigation was "initiated by Trump's campaign manager, somebody who does this all the time, has gone after a number of Democrats and progressives in this state". Politico reports the evidence for that so far is "thin at best", but Sanders (like anyone in that situation) is wise to have a lawyer handling the probe for him. Sanders' office inappropriately urged the bank to approve the loan. He said it only made sense that the Sanderses had hired an attorney, but they had not been contacted by investigators.
UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn will 'try to force early election'
The Labour leader used his 4pm slot on the Pyramid Stage to appeal to equality, and an end to the division in wealth and poverty. As the crowd started chanting his name again, Jeremy Corbyn called for "a decent, better society where everybody matters".
Of course, he couldn't miss the chance to take a hit at President Trump, claiming that it's as bad as the Republican brand, being one of the main reasons why people are giving up on politics.
In his first tweet Sunday President Trump once again rehashed the 2016 election, accusing former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton of conspiring with her party to defeat her primary opponent, Sen.
"Well, as you know, it would be improp- this implication came from Donald Trump's campaign manager in Vermont", Sen.
Donald Trump Offers Nearly Incomprehensible Explanation For James Comey Tapes Claims
In the piece, Wittes recalled that Comey had told him at a lunch meeting that he sought to distance himself from Trump. The president's earlier suggestion that he had tapes that he now says never existed undercuts him, Robenalt said.
