New York's Gabriel Sherman reported Wednesday that Fox News is dropping the marketing slogan "Fair & Balanced", the much-ridiculed, mostly aspirational tagline for a network whose morning and prime-time lineups are all markedly conservative.
A Fox News spokesperson confirmed that the network hasn't used the slogan in external marketing or on-air promotions since August 2016, but said "the shift has nothing to do with programming or editorial decisions".
Last July, Ailes resigned as chairman and CEO of Fox News after a number of current and former female employees came forward to accuse him of sexual harassment.
Apple Legalizes In-App Tipping for Content Creators
It's baffling that Apple approved apps like this in the first place - perhaps it's a side effect of faster app review times. With iOS 11, developers will be able to preserve their ratings across multiple versions of their apps.
You can't call Fox News "fair and balanced" anymore... because they're not calling themselves that anymore. With cognitive dissonance more acceptable than ever among Fox News' core audience thinks to the misadventures of Donald J. Trump, one might think that the slogan would still pay dividends for the network. It was also instrumental in obfuscating the network's right-leaning agenda, a goal Ailes admitted to in multiple interviews during his life.
In an obituary, Fox News rival CNN wrote that Alies "ruled Fox with an iron fist".
In its place, producers have been asked to use the network's other slogan: "Most Watched". The decision was made last August after Ailes's ouster by Fox News co-president Jack Abernethy, because the phrase had "been mocked", one insider said.
Potcoin sponsoring Rodman's North Korea trip
Rodman was also spotted at the Beijing International Airport on Monday night where he refused to answer questions about his visit. Rodman was mobbed by journalists when he arrived at Beijing's airport on Tuesday to catch a flight for the North Korean capital.
According to the magazine, the slogan is reportedly being changed because it had "been mocked" and was "too closely associated" with Ailes. Here, the slogan seemed to say, was an alternative for non-liberal Americans.
Fox News has never been fair and balanced.
