The diesel variant of the Dzire is priced between Rs 6.45 lakh - Rs 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Commenting on the launch, Maruti Suzuki's Managing Director and CEO K. Anykawa said, "The new Dzire gets a complete design and package to meet the expectations of Indian customers". The model has been contributing to around 50 per cent of vehicle sales in the compact sedan segment. Maruti Suzuki, along with its suppliers has invested over Rs 1000 crore for the development of the new DZire.
The new Dzire had been developed on 5th generation "Heartect" platform, which helps in reduction of weight and improves frame rigidity.
Previously known as "Swift DZire", the new model loses the prefix and will only be known as "DZire".

The new Dzire gets its power from a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel powertrain. Both engines have been tuned for efficiency and now return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 22 kmpl on the petrol and 28.48 kmpl on the diesel version, both of which are class leading. Both petrol and diesel versions get an option of either a 5-speed manual gearbox or 5-speed AMT.
