Pete Carroll: Seahawks looking at every backup quarterback option, including Colin Kaepernick

With a proven veteran in Kaepernick, the Seahawks could feel more comfortable in allowing more rest for Wilson in case he sustains a more serious injury in the upcoming season.

"We're looking at everybody". Mike Silver of NFL Media on Monday night reported the team had formally reached out to Kaepernick's representatives.

Kaepernick is the best remaining free-agent quarterback on the market, having thrown 16 touchdown passes and just four interceptions in 2016.

Griffin is also a free agent after his time with the Cleveland Browns last season ended.

Vodafone ups stake in Vodacom after transferring direct interest in Kenya's Safaricom
Vodacom acquires an 87.5% shareholding in Vodafone Kenya, which represents a 35% indirect interest in Safaricom. According to Bloomberg , Safaricom makes up 71 percent of the mobile-customer market share in Kenya.

Seattle Seahawks rookie defensive lineman Malik McDowell will play some defensive end, head coach Pete Carroll said.

Kaepernick's wait for employment has been well-chronicled and Griffin's less so, but either would provide a veteran hand behind the durable Wilson, who has never missed a game in his five-year National Football League career.

"It's hard to see because he's played at such a high level, and you see guys, quarterbacks, who have never played at a high level being signed by teams". Today, Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III may find themselves competing for a backup role behind, ironically, the third mobile, read option-loving QB to explode in 2012.

"There was a year Matt Schaub had a pretty rough year and got signed the next year", Sherman said.

While the eighth-year Seahawks coach didn't single out these two passers, he did respond to a question about them by saying they are under consideration.

In addition, the Seahawks have an uncertain situation behind Wilson.

Still, at this point it's fairly surprising - no matter your view on his protests last season - that a quarterback of Kaepernick's experience and talent is still available in the prime of his career.

The Seahawks could use a No. 2 behind Russell Wilson, especially after Trevone Boykin was arrested twice in 11 days back in late March and early April.
