"We believe India and Pakistan stand to benefit from practical cooperation", a State Department spokesperson told PTI.

Jadhav, the latest flashpoint in the tensions between Pakistan and India, was sentenced to death last month.

A Pakistani military court had sentenced death penalty to Jadhav in March a year ago on charges of espionage and subversive activities.

The Indian camp sounds fairly confident of a favourable judgement which the president of he ICJ said would be delivered as soon as possible in an open hearing.

Salve who is appearing for the famous Kulbhushan Jadhav case against Pakistan for illegally detaining him, with the case pending before ICJ presently, has charged a mere Re.1 for the case.

According to Islamabad, Jadhav confessed to being tasked by India's intelligence service with planning, coordinating and organizing espionage and sabotage activities in Baluchistan "aiming to destabilize and wage war against Pakistan".

Hamon went on to make a disastrous showing in the presidential election, being eliminated in the first round in fifth place. The party's first secretary Jean-Christophe Cambadélis said "a procedure is ongoing".

India has said Jadhav was "kidnapped from Iran, where he was carrying on business after retiring from the Indian Navy, and was then shown to have been arrested in Balochistan on 3 March 2016". India could simply have denied that the passport is genuine.

He argued that every country had undeniable right to punish the terrorists and the ICJ could not intervene in criminal cases.

Dr Faisal said spies do not have right to counsulor access and India has not produced evidence in favour of Yadav in the court.

Qureshi also stressed on the fact that assistance in investigation was a "fundamental requirement" for consular access. "Else, it will be a violation of the Vienna Convention", Harish Salve said.

Jadhav was arrested in the southwestern province of Balochistan past year and Pakistani officials claim he has confessed to spying for Indian intelligence services.

"We are confident that ICJ will take decision in favour of India and Jadhva will get justice".

Salve said, "The execution of the death sentence can not be done while this court is hearing the appeal".

Islamabad has also not replied to a visa application by Jadhav's parents to Pakistan to visit their son. We have a long border with India where millions of people reside.

On May 8, India moved the ICJ against the death penalty, alleging Pakistan violated the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations by repeatedly denying it consular access to Jadhav.

Mittal insisted Pakistan has failed to respond to all Indian demands for information about the case, snubbing requests for documents including the charge sheet, and has failed to provide Jadav with consular access. However, the court said after the conclusion of the proceedings that both parties would be duly notified.

"India's allegation regarding the kidnapping of its spy is not true and he [Jadhav] was arrested by Pakistani forces from Balochistan", he maintained.
